As I ponder the California governor fiasco, my thoughts drift to a particular dialog exchange in the otherwise forgettable movie, 1993’s Demolition Man:

John Spartan (Sylvester Stallone): “Hold it! The Schwarzenegger Library?”

Lenina Huxley (Sandra Bullock): “Yes, the Schwarzenegger Presidential Library. Wasn’t he an actor?”

John Spartan: “Stop! He was President?”

Lenina Huxley: “Yes. Even though he was not born in this country, his popularity at the time caused the 61st Amendment…”
